Toast!!!

How do you like your toast...?
Do you like it...

with a whiskey-back?

Do you like it.. ...because it makes a great sound when it Pops! out of the toaster oven?

or when it's chalk full of healthy grains n' shit?! sprouted!!! Whole wheat!!!!

[wow...that bread is the shit].

okay - I have to admit - I love toast so much. Loaves of bread in general. Sometimes, the only thing a day needs is the start with two awesome pieces of bread, one with earth balance sliced tomato and cucumber [salt and pepper] with sprouts and nutritional yeast [the best!!!]...the other with homemade hummus and ajvar [and, of course, nutritional yeast], all coming together to magically create the beauty that is toast. But what makes it better is the vehicle that keeps it going, the vessel, the creator of all life that is eternal and beautiful - the bread!

Yesterday Emily and I purchased a $6 l
oaf of bread.

At least they gave us giant-sized "tasters" of the bread before we made our difficult decision. The two men work in a small kitchen-store on hip-and-cool College Ave. It had raisins, it had walnuts, it wasn't too sweet...it was...just...perfect.

S
o whatever, we bought it. We deserve it.

You know you’re hippiebouge if ...

... you will buy exorbitantly overpriced products if they contain at least one of the following criteria:
a) It was organic.
b) It was fair-trade.
c) It was cruelty-free.
d) LOCAL!
e) All of the above
f) You pitied the person selling it to you.
g) You “connected” with the person selling it to you.
h)It was made from compostable material.
i)It comes in a compostable container.
j) It comes in a reusable container, for only a few extra bucks.
k) It was made by a women’s cooperative in a small developing country.

Here's an example of my latest purchase:  http://www.screamsorbet.com/flavors.php  $8 for a cup and a half of Cranberry Walnut Vegan (finally!) sorbet, but oh so worth it.  All the ingredients came from Organic local farms. Plus, I felt guilted into it because I talked to the storeowners for so long.

What have YOU bought that you want some justification for today?  Discuss.

Welcome to Hippiebouge!

Yes, as Hippies, we have and always will believe in peace and equality. We believe corporations should be abolished, we get physically sick when we see Hummers or little dogs being accessorized in Louis Vitton purses, and would much rather backpack, WWOOF, or live on a commune somewhere with all our hippiebouge friends than be a part of this system. We love yoga, spend most of our money on food and the occasional fancy gadget from an outdoor store, and would much rather have a locally brewed organic IPA than a - did you really just offer me a Bud Light?

Here's the distinction from the classic Hippie:  We recognize that just the ability to live the life that we live, i.e.: taking time off from work just because we want to go camping or be a ski-bum, buying -not just appreciating- local, organic, cruelty-free products, or dreaming of buying a huge plot of land one day in the hills of Spain or New Zealand, is all due to our privilege.  We are blessed-Hippies but we are not afraid to make fun of ourselves, and the fortunate positions we are in.

This blog is to serve as a jumping-off point for all those lost hippiebouge souls who want to put themselves in yet another box.  A larger movement is coming. The question is, Are you hippiebouge?
Have you bought your over-priced Kombucha today because you feel like it counter-acts all the handcrafted beer you drank last night?

You know who you are. Don’t be ashamed. Own it.
